WATER TREATMENT

WATER TREATMENT

The engineering company Busse GmbH based in Leipzig has developed the next generation of sophisticated wastewater treatment technology: a new biological small sewage treatment plant for decentralized locations, which cleans domestic wastewater down to bathing water quality through the use of microfiltration membranes.

This is the first time that the microfiltration process has been implemented in decentralized wastewater treatment in the BusseMF domestic sewage treatment plant. This process even retains bacteria and germs. This means that the treated wastewater is perfectly hygienic and can be reused as process water, e.g. B. for garden irrigation or as toilet flushing water. In this way, drinking water consumption in the household can be reduced by around a third. The consistently high cleaning performance of the BusseMF system guarantees discharge values that are well below the limits required by law or even below the EU limit values for bathing water. Microfiltration thus also allows the cleaned wastewater to be discharged in sensitive areas and water protection zones.

The development of the BusseMF was supported by the Federal Environment Agency and the German Federal Foundation for the Environment. The innovative system has proven itself throughout Germany since 1997 and has type approval from the German Institute for Building Technology. Throughout Germany, the BusseMF is already running in more than 800 households to the satisfaction of the customers and has now also been used successfully in twelve other countries for wastewater treatment and water recovery deployed.

Other advantages of this compact small sewage treatment technology with microfiltration from Busse are the space-saving installation and the elimination of time-consuming earthworks. The system, which consists of safety tanks, can be installed within a few hours and is immediately ready for operation. Wastewater recycling on floating houses, houseboats or theater and restaurant ships is also possible for the first time with this solution. Due to its system design, the system can also be expanded for larger properties such as hotels, campsites or office buildings up to 500 population equivalents.

MBR Sewage Treatment Systems

The small scale sewage treatment system BusseMF designed for 4 to 50 inhabitants with membrane bioreactor technology (MBR) turns domestic waste water into useable non-potable water that meets all reduction standards (C, N, D, P + H).

Waste Water Recycling

The domestic waste water from decentralized and centralized buildings is recycled by the Busse membrane bioreactor technology and can be re-use as non-potable water, for example for toilet flushing or garden irrigation. Closing this ecological loop is not only protects the environment and saves drinking water resources but also results in cost savings.

Systems for ships and house boats

Due to its compact and modular structure the Busse MBR system can be adapted for installations on house boats, theatres, museums and restaurant ships, river boats as well as larger yachts. The effluent from the system can be re-used for flushing toilets, cleaning the deck or can be discharged directly into the surrounding waters.

Special Applications

The application range of the BusseMF systems compasses solutions for hotel resorts, campgrounds, historical buildings, like castles and palaces as well as mobile container systems. The MBR technology is even used for waste water free fish farming.
